The GPFN was launched in 2025, motivated by the decision to move U.S. gynecologic pathology fellowships to the NRMP Match.
▪ To foster comprehensive, evidence-based, clinically relevant education delivered by U.S. gynecological pathology fellowships (GPF), including existing programs and incipient ones
▪ To promote a collaborative and collegial relationship between program directors (PD) of U.S. GPF
▪ To serve as a resource/information hub for recruitment of candidate fellows, for navigating the Match system, for job announcements, and for advertising options for visiting rotations available to students, residents, and international observers interested in gynecological pathology.
▪ The focus of the Network is on educational and administrative aspects of gynecologic pathology training. The Network is not primarily concerned with diagnostic, clinical or scientific questions.
All PD, associate PD, and former PD/APD of any fellowship in gynecological pathology, combined gynecological/breast pathology, or a combination of gynecological pathology with any other subspecialty are welcome to be a Network member. For the purpose of the GPFN, a fellowship is a formal, organized postgraduate clinical training program. Though the primary mission of GPFN centers on U.S. fellowships, PD from GPF in countries outside of the U.S. are welcome to join the Network.
There is no fee to be a Network member. To join the GPFN, a prospective member should contact the GPFN co-secretaries who will verify their credentials and add their name to the Network’s membership database and email list. By joining the GPFN, the PD is also agreeing that their fellowship program contact information will be listed on the public access page of the GPFN website.
To resign from the GPFN, a member should contact the co-secretaries.
GPFN provides two email lists (groups, forums, "listservs") to help Network members communicate:
● PD forum: Any member may post, reaching the entire Network membership. The purpose is to provide a forum for PD to communicate on topics related to the missions of the Network between regularly scheduled meetings. This list is for Network members only. Members may unsubscribe at any time.
Members are automatically added to this list.
To send a message to the list, email gpfn-pd@googlegroups.com (GPFN members only).
● PD announcements: This list is for Network members only and for announcements only. Postings are generated by the co-secretaries.
Members are automatically added to this list.
GPFN will create a schedule of regular virtual meetings throughout the year for the purpose of connecting PDs together and providing a forum for discussion of topics of interest. All network members are welcome to propose agenda items by emailing the GPFN co-secretaries who will organize selected topics into meeting agendas.
Meeting minutes will be prepared by the GPFN co-secretaries and posted to a password-protected page within the GPFN website, visible to network members only.
There will be at least one regularly scheduled virtual meeting per year.
The co-secretaries may periodically organize formal or informal in-person meetings of the Network, e.g., in conjunction with national meetings.
Upcoming meeting: Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at 12 pm Eastern time
Meeting invite will be circulated via listserv
The GPFN is administered by two volunteer co-secretaries.
